Traveling To See Family
Many of us travel to see family or friends during the holiday season. I know for me, it’s hard to travel away from the comfort and routine of home. It can be stressful, especially around this time of year, and particularly if food has been a struggle for you. So, I’m sharing how to take a deep breath and really think about what is going to help you feel your best.
If you’re not staying in your own home for the holidays then you might be feeling a bit anxious knowing that you won’t have as much control over the food—what’s there, what’s brought over, what’s cooked, what’s made, etc.—and so you might feel very confused about what you’re going to do to avoid falling back into old patterns. After all, you want to enjoy the holiday season, not spend it feeling stressed, anxious, or out of control.
So, in this episode, I’m going to help you with all of that. I’m sharing:
- Real stories from clients of mine who’ve struggled while traveling for the holidays because of what that meant for their relationship with food…and actual strategies they used to overcome those struggles
- How to deal with the pressure and opinions of family members when it comes to food choices around the holidays
- Practical tips and strategies that you can easily implement while traveling/visiting relatives that will help you make the food choices that are right for you
- How a couple of small tweaks can make a big difference in your mental health, in your presence with your family and in your ability to enjoy the holiday—so that you don’t return feeling like you then have to do so much to get back on track
